IMAGINE: Feeding the Multitudes

Jesus did feed the multitudes. But each person was fed one at a time. When the disciples went out (on the mission to care for those who were there) they saw, with every person, there was something for everyone. This is what happens when we all come together…there is more than enough for those we serve because God has blessed us individually, yes, but also as a community.

When we put money in the offering plate, bring food for the pantry, go to the prison to minister, help with the homeless ministry, visit those who are sick, etc., we go out one at a time, but in the power of the Holy Spirit, as representatives of this church. We see God provide so everyone has what they need to be filled.

So where did they get the bread and fish? From one little boy (John 6). Because one disciple, Andrew (John 6) asked for food from people. This one boy gave what he had. He gave the snack his mother gave him that day. He gave away his source of food for that day. I’m sure he felt hungry, but he knew other people needed to eat to.

Guess what? That boy did not go without eating. Yes, when we give…when we tithe (at least 10% of our income), it does seem to hurt, at first. But the reality is God never leaves us lacking…God will always provide when we are in line with God’s plan, work, and movement. We will have everything we need.
